Screenplay Pitches for the Current Moment
By Martin H. Levinson
The entertainment industry is always searching for original content that is involving and captures the current moment. The screenplay pitches that follow do just that. Feel free to use them, as I’m busy with other writing projects. If you do use them, I wish you the best of luck in having these can’t-miss narratives turn into high-earning, premium-streaming, metric-driven, dopamine delivery vehicles.
The Autonomous Inheritance
- The Pitch: A sweeping, emotional family drama about wealth, tech, and legacy.
- The Concept: A billionaire tech mogul dies and leaves his entire estate not to his wife and children, but to the family’s AI-operated, self-cleaning robotic vacuum cleaner.
- The Conflict: His wife and children sue the vacuum for custody of the estate, forcing a high-stakes probate court battle over whether the appliance possesses human-like emotional intelligence. To prove its worthiness, the vacuum must demonstrate its ability to empathize with the plight of the family while spotlessly cleaning the courthouse floors.
The Instapoet Laureate
- The Pitch: A happy-go-lucky take on the disappearance of literacy in America.
- The Concept: An irate, traditional poet tries to mock the simplistic nature of modern digital poetry. He publishes an intentionally terrible, nonsensical collection of lowercase, fragmented thoughts under a fake name, accompanied by abstract line drawings of random kitchen utensils. He assumes everyone will get the joke.
- The Conflict: The parody backfires spectacularly when the book is hailed as a profound, transcendent masterpiece of human emotion. He is instantly thrust into international stardom, forced to go on a global press tour, and must desperately maintain the absurd fraud while trying to secretly sabotage his own undeserved career.
The Warmest Welcome
- The Pitch: An end-times comedy about how corporate reframing will save the world.
- The Concept: As rising global temperatures threaten coastal regions, a ruthless luxury hospitality conglomerate launches a multi-billion-dollar marketing campaign rebranding catastrophic sea levels as “The Ultimate Oceanfront Upgrade.”
- The Conflict: A cynical public relations executive is tasked with convincing the skeptical public that boiling, jellyfish-infested waters are actually a curated, natural spa experience. They must manage the escalating environmental chaos while fighting off a rival luxury brand trying to market the upcoming ice age as a cozy, exclusive winter wonderland.
The Rogue Reviewer
- The Pitch: A tense psychological thriller set in the competitive world of online gig economies.
- The Concept: A five-star rideshare driver receives his first 4-star rating from an anonymous passenger, instantly tanking his flawless record. He uses a hyper-advanced data-tracking algorithm to hunt down the specific rider who ruined his perfect streak.
- The Conflict: He discovers the passenger is a rogue, underground “Review Anarchist” who believes perfection is a corporate myth and vows never to give anyone 5 stars. The driver locks them both in the car, refusing to let the passenger out until they manually update the rating on their phone, leading to a high-speed philosophical standoff with the police.
The Infinite Inbox
- The Pitch: Dystopian sci-fi disaster meets everyday life.
- The Concept: An average corporate middle manager discovers that his company’s outdated email server has developed a glitching, physical gravitational pull. It is slowly dragging his entire office cubicle into a literal, swirling black hole made of unread, urgent corporate memos.
- The Conflict: To avoid being crushed by the dense mass of unorganized digital clutter, he must manually delete five billion spam emails using a slow, dial-up internet connection before the server room collapses and wipes out the entire Eastern Seaboard.
