Cheney Ponders Whether To Seize Saudi Arabia’s Oil Now or Later

By Dan Geddes

WASHINGTON—Vice President Dick Cheney admitted on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday that he was now agonizing over whether to invade Saudi Arabia now or in the “medium short term.” Cheney admitted it was a difficult time for the campaign, due to the stiffening guerilla resistance in Iraq, and the worldwide skepticism over the legitimacy of the U.S.’s March 2003 invasion.

“But it’s never going to be an easy decision,” said Cheney. “People don’t realize how complicated it is to plan the frame up of a long-term ally, invade them, and seize their natural resources. But Iraq has been a successful pilot project for this. And besides, we only need to take the eastern half. That’s where most of the crude is.”

The Saudi Foreign Minister had no comment about Cheney’s admission.
